To mark the end of the observing season, this year Akashmitra has organised a very unique star party.
It will be India’s first virtual star party using the Virtual Telescope Italy. You can view the sky objects from italy on your desktop at home, to attend this star party all you need is a computer with an internet connection.
The star party is on Saturday 10th June 2011 (after midnight) – 11th June 2011 (morning) at 20:00 UT i.e. 01:30am IST to 03:30am IST.
It will be a 2 hour long guided tour by the eminent Italian Astrophysicist Dr. Gianluca Masi. We plan to photograph some of the most distant galaxies, nebulae & star clusters.
He will be operating the high tech telescope at the observatory & the audio-video can be seen on your computer screen, where he will also be answering the questions raised by the public.
To attend this free event the users will need to go to the following web address in the specified time slot.
It is a “Free” event, with medium of event being in English, where anyone with a computer & broadband internet connection can join & enjoy the celestial wonders.
