Geminids 06

Geminid – on December 14, 2006

Geminids are to peak on Dec 14 at 16:30 IST which coincide with our regular meetings on Thursday. Here are some excerpts about Geminids from International Meteor Organization site

“One of the finest annual showers presently observable.” — “There will be some useful dark-sky observing opportunities, especially from the northern hemisphere this is a splendid stream of often bright, medium-speed meteors, a rewarding sight for all watchers” — It then discusses about the shower itself and adds ~ “Further results on this topic would be useful” means more observations are needed and you have a chance to contribute to it.

Venue for observations – Pokhari (about 10km before Bhimashankar).
This is a very dark site – and we plan to do some meteor photography.
